Near the conclusion of the 2026 Encampment, we will come together to share current and past reflections, inspirations, and strategies. Join us July 17–19 in-person in Thousand Oaks, CA. You can also participate virtually for two sessions.

As an intergenerational community throughout the year, we support recent and older alums and the larger EFC community connect and construct responses to current social justice issues in our InterGen Cafés. Our annual InterGen Program at the culmination of the summer Encampment is a multi-day event where EFC alums of all ages enjoy a dialogue and the newest Encampers share what they have learned.

In-person activities start on Friday afternoon, July 17, and include registration, optional dinner together, opening circle, singing, and small intergenerational group discussions.

We continue on Saturday, July 18, with the Encampers’ creative expressions of what they are learning. Past presentations have included music, dance, visual art, and theater. We will also have a Q&A with the Encampers and staff. Please note that this year’s presentations will take place in the morning (Pacific time).

In the evening, we will view the inspiring Robert Reich documentary “The Last Class” and have a discussion about how it applies to the Encampment experience.

On Sunday morning, July 19, EFC Executive Director Dr. Faith Kares, along with EFC staff, alums, and current Encampers, will facilitate an activity called “Meeting the Moment.” We will share stories of courage in meeting various moments — whether big or small, current events or 30 years ago, we all have rich stories of activating our bravery to speak up and out. Let’s share our stories intergenerationally, learn from and build community, and inspire one another. As the EFC has instilled in us, which resonates with many civil rights activists like Grace Lee Boggs, we are the leaders we have been waiting for!

We will move into our closing circle and wrap up around lunch time. Throughout the weekend, there will be many opportunities for shared meals and informal conversations.

The best way to participate is in person, but if you are unable to do so, we have two Virtual Sessions:

On Saturday morning (Pacific time), we will be livestreaming an InterGen favorite: the Encampers’ creative expressions of what they are learning.

On Sunday morning, EFC Executive Director Dr. Faith Kares, with EFC alums and Encampers, will facilitate a group activity virtually where we share stories of courage in meeting various moments. Please join us in sharing stories intergenerationally, learn from and build community, and inspire one another.
