The Other Strawberry Festival 2026, hosted at Community Roots Garden, brought together approximately 150 community members, farmers, educators, youth leaders, and partner organizations for an afternoon of hands-on learning, creativity, and connection focused on reimagining our food system. “I am grateful for all of the community unity at the Other Strawberry Festival. This Saturday afternoon, March 28, from 1–4:30 p.m., you have an opportunity to see the EFC’s Pesticide-Free Soil Project in action if you are in Ventura County, CA. This in-person gathering is a collaboration with local youth and organizations. The youth-led gathering celebrates community, showcases youth artwork, and provides an opportunity for imagining possibilities.

PFSP staff and interns, in collaboration with the Rio School District and participating local organizations, have created a video that takes a step-by-step approach to how to organize a compost tea party at your school or in your community. The Compost Tea Party, a collaborative event with the Rio School District and local community organizations that not only takes the first step in moving away from using pesticides on school grounds but also provides workshops on nature-based climate solutions, addressing both farmworker and family health, soil health and climate change.
